Pen

I have nothing. Well, that's not exactly true. I have myself. I have the clothes on my back and my family. And seeing you lot strolling by, it makes me wonder which of us is more grateful for what we have. You, your expensive camera and your posh clothes - or me, armed with the knowledge of how to survive the harsh lives we live. While you come here to enjoy the sun, we're here to make sure you don't just leave us junk that has no purpose.

You'll probably never understand why the pens I asked you for made me so happy. To you, it's hardly of any value - it's a trinket that serves a small purpose for you. To me it's far more than a tool. It's colourful. It's smooth and smells new. Now I can go to school tomorrow morning, before the sun truly splits the cloudless sky, and remember you by the worthless object you gave that became solid gold in my eyes.
